statement for these paintings

As an artist I tend to choose a medium that suits the needs of a given project. I have worked with many mediums, exhibiting large photographs of sculpture as well as printmaking and ceramic sculpture. The use of paint on panel reflects a more personal journey as the oil paint extends the surface of the project. I am currently interested in the interpretation of timelines and the pursuit of painting is a method that allows me to both illustrate and meditate.
These paintings are part of a continued exploration between rooted fleeting thoughts and connectivity to a physical realm.

Photograph information

This series of photographs I was working on in 2005 were created by building constructions and photographing them. I used all sorts of materials to build the constructions and once photographed I used no computer alterations.

I was concerned with history, montage, layering, distribution, and acceleration.

The photographs shown in Modena, Italy were printed on glossy paper and measure 47 by 62 inches.

The other photographs are mounted to plexiglass and have 2 eye-holes cut out of the image. When the viewer looks through the openings a 3 dimensional image is mounted to the back of the photo. These measure approximately 36 by 20 inches.
